In February 2020 Yve Bayley represented WET at the opening of the Laucau Water Project near Letefoho in the mountains of Timor Leste. The project services, 300 households with 2500 people and 280 students who now get water from taps within 50 metres of there houses, down from a 3km hike to the spring.
WET contributed $26,850 for materials, transport and onsite advice, as well as a tank donated by Moyne Health Service and new tank liner from Aquamate. These villages now have running water for a cost of just under $90 per household or $9.65 per person (including the school).
Thanks to the work of Eddie, and his crew from the Bahkita Centre who designed and installed the system.
